Outreach Coordinator

The Campus Kitchen at Washington and Lee (CKWL) is a part of The Campus Kitchens Project network, harnessing student volunteerism to empower the next generation of leaders to implement innovative models for combating hunger, developing food systems and helping communities help themselves. CKWL is hiring an Outreach Coordinator through the Shepherd Program’s AmeriCorps *VISTA project to serve for a one year term beginning in May 2014. Responsibilities will include a general assessment around the need and capacity for a mobile food pantry, recruiting and training of a community leadership team, design of resources and promotional material around hunger outreach and creation of a structure for volunteer/donor management. The ideal applicant has good communication skills, ability to serve alongside college students, familiarity with the Rockbridge area, a working knowledge of Microsoft Office, a driver’s license and the ability to lift at least 25 pounds. Anti-Hunger and Opportunity Corps VISTA Member (The Campus Kitchens Project)
The Campus Kitchen Project, in partnership with the New York City Coalition Against Hunger is seeking a full year AmeriCorps VISTA member based in our Washington, DC headquarters to help us grow the organization’s capacity to develop and deliver SNAP outreach and nutrition education programming throughout our national network.  The VISTA will report to and support the Associate Director of Training and Evaluation in evaluating our existing SNAP and nutrition education programming and creating resources to improve operations in these areas. Some activities will include collaborating CKP staff and with VISTA members working at our other locations across the country to identify emerging best practices, so the position is a great opportunity for those who enjoy working as part of a team and gaining experience in developing impactful nonprofit programs. Anti-Hunger and Opportunity Corps VISTA Member (Northwestern University)
The Campus Kitchen at Northwestern University, in partnership with the New York City Coalition Against Hunger, is seeking an Anti-Hunger and Opportunity Corps VISTA AmeriCorps member to support the CKNU Coordinator in expanding CKNU’s programming through volunteer recruitment, volunteer training, community engagement, SNAP outreach, nutrition education classes, and capacity building. This is a one year, full-time position beginning on June 23, 2014. Summer Associate VISTA (Northwestern University)
The Campus Kitchen at Northwestern University seeks a Summer Associate VISTA AmeriCorps member to support the CKNU Coordinator in running summer operations.  Each summer, CKNU ramps up its summer operations to provide healthy meals and snacks to low-income children and youth in the greater Chicago area who typically receive free and reduced breakfast and lunch during the school year, but would be at risk of missing out on those meals entirely in the summer months. In total, there will be three VISTA members working at CKNU during the summer months, so the position is a great opportunity for those who enjoy working as part of a team and gaining experience in direct service. Summer Associate VISTA (Saint Louis University)
CKSLU, in partnership with the New York City Coalition Against Hunger, is seeking a full-time VISTA member for the summer to assist the coordinator and other staff with the daily operations of running a meals program—ensuring access to healthy, delicious meals for clients in need. Much of the job will be working with young volunteers from across the country, who come each summer on service trips to the Saint Louis area and volunteer with our agency. In addition to summer operations and volunteer leadership, the NYCCAH member will assist in food recovery and outreach to client agencies and individual clients. Finally, the NYCCAH member will assist in the continuation and growth of SNAP Outreach program for clients of all ages which will include tabling, outreach events, eligibility screenings, and application assistance and follow-up. Summer Associate VISTA (UMass Boston)
CKUMB, in partnership with the New York City Coalition Against Hunger, is seeking a full-time VISTA member for the summer to help us run and expand our operations to provide healthy meals and snacks to low-income children and youth in Boston who typically receive free and reduced breakfast and lunch during the school year. Nutrition education and gardening opportunities will also be provided to these youth which the NYCCAH member will implement. In addition to special summer operations and programming, the NYCCAH member will assist in operations and some programming for CKUMB’s year-round youth and older adult clients. Finally, the NYCCAH member will assist in the continuation and growth of CKUMB’s SNAP Outreach program for clients of all ages which will include tabling, outreach events, eligibility screenings, and application assistance and follow-up. See the full job description and application.
